Here are a few pictures from the floral displays in Abingdon on the 7th of July 2022, the day that Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigned after a spectacular display of resignations by government ministers.

Boris Johnson’s time in office was the most eventful of any recent Prime Minister. It began with getting Brexit Done. Moved into the Covid-19 Pandemic, which caused worries about whether the NHS could cope.

Then came real danger when Dominic Cummings, the  Prime Minister’s special adviser, was sacked. Dominic Cummings blogged what had happened at 10 Downing Street, including parties when the rest of the country was in lockdown.

Russia invaded Ukraine, and Boris Johnson became one of the people most loved by Ukraine and hated by Russia as he sent support to the Ukrainian people. That was not enough, though, to save him.

Boris Johnson was the best-known politician in the country. He followed his own way and not the conventional rules. People knew who they were voting for at the last election, and that was the person they got. Like Donald Trump, he did not change, and could not be changed, once he had gotten to the highest office.
